Most of these images come from Eduard Wiiralt, an early 90s catalog for an exhibit at the Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki (ISBN 951-47-8272-0). It focuses on Wiiralt's work from the 20s and 30s but it's far from comprehensive. Wiiralt was a prolific artist. I would love to see his 140 illustrations for Eduard Tennmann's four-part textbook on religion published in 1924–25 and the 75 color drawings "consisting of grotesque fantasy portraits and compositions" commissioned by the art dealer Pierre Flajoulot in 1929. Since his work seems to have never really caught on in Europe let alone in the US, I won't hold my breath.
