The Biography of a Hamster
Illustrations by Ruth Tzarfati for her children's book Good Senses and Instincts: Biography of a Hamster (Israel, 1964).
I featured images from this adorable yet somehow disturbing book in 2009, and decided to feature more when importing from the old site. See the whole book at the Children's Library. Description:
The author tells us with words and pictures about a beloved little hamster that grew up in her home. The soft, gold-colored hamster was hardworking, very clean and sometimes funny. She grew up, became a mother, aged and died. But she left only happy memories behind.

I love that the tower-like image bleeding through is actually a library punch card:

Possible new tagline for 50 Watts: "From Huysmans to Hamsters."
