Murray Tinkelman kindly let me feature his wonderful Bestiary. These images first appeared in the long-defunct magazine Lithopinion, and were reprinted in the book The Illustrations of Murray Tinkelman.

An award-winning illustrator, Murray is currently Director of the Limited Residency MFA in Illustration program at the Hartford Art School - University of Hartford (his wife Carol is the Program Administrator). This program is designed for illustrators who have a career and want to go for an master's degree without upsetting their professional schedule. They also have a blog called Squint which features work from students and alumni.

Leif Peng of Today's Inspiration did an excellent series of posts on Murray in 2009 [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]. The last scan above is his (I made the rest using The Illustrations of Murray Tinkelman).
