Illustrations by Yury Annenkov for the first edition of Alexander Blok's poem "The Twelve" (1918). One of my favorite spots on the internet, the Russian illustration blog da-zdra-per-m, featured the book in April 2010.
Clicking the images will bring you to that post. [update: RIP da-zdra-per-m -- I miss you so much!]
The blog Snegourotchka discussed the poem and these illustrations in a 2008 post (in English). I remember when I first came upon them (I can't read Russian) I mistook them for work by George Grosz, one of my favorite artists.
